In any given moment we can be moving towards cultivating a more peaceful relationship with our bodies or further away. One of the things that consistently moves us further away is becoming overly focused on an outcome. "I can finally be happy when I get rid of my pain." "When I lose these last ten pounds then I can relax and start living." The more we grasp after a desired outcome, the more elusive it becomes. In this video I discuss the parallels between dieting and trying to get rid of pain symptoms because, ironically, both of those things are exactly what makes it more difficult to achieve the desired outcome.
